Mark Guarino

Mark entered the design profession as a graphic designer while attending the Boston Architectural Center (College). His first position was with a corporate art department and after three years moved on to become Art Director of a Boston media design firm. Two years later he went to work for a large Cambridge architectural firm as a draftsman while continuing with classes at night. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture, he joined another Cambridge architectural firm as a designer and worked on a range of corporate and residential projects.

But Mark missed the pace, diversity of projects and greater creative control he had experienced as a graphic designer. An economic slowdown led him to propose to the principals that they form a graphic design division of the architectural firm. After a few years this became an independent firm; Guarino Design Group, Inc.

The firm’s early work included graphic identity programs for ITT Sheraton Hotels and Community Newspaper Company; direct mail for WGBH and other stations in the PBS network, brochures for Polaroid and Digital, and environmental graphics for Delaware North Corporation.

For over 30 years, Mark has created of a wide range of graphic design solutions that include corporate identity programs, all forms of print communications, advertising, environmental graphics and sign programs, and the design of interactive digital presentations and websites.

His work for many clients in the architectural, engineering and construction management community has been recognized with 35 awards at the annual Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Communications Awards programs (National and Local) including Best of Show and “People’s Choice” Awards.
